The five-second test

Visitors decide before they scroll.

Someone arriving from Google or an ad is checking three things: is this the right kind of business, do they cover my area, and how do I get in touch? A first screen that answers all three earns the next ten seconds. We plan the top of every important page around those questions, then build the rest around the objections people raise before they call: price, timing, process and proof.

A plain heading naming the service. Not a slogan.

Suburbs or regions, so people know you cover them.

What’s in the build

Nine jobs every good website does.

Most website quotes bundle the same jobs. The difference is how many are included and how much care goes into each. Here is what ours cover.

  1. 01

A page plan from real questions

Before any design, we map the pages your site needs to the searches people make and the questions they ask before they call: price, timing, area, process, proof.

You get: Sitemap and page briefs
  2. 02

    Words that do the selling

Headings that say what you do and where, service pages that answer objections, and calls to action that tell people exactly what happens next. Full copywriting is optional and quoted.

You get: Content structure for every page
  3. 03

    Original design

Typography, colour, layout and photography direction designed for your business, not a theme with your logo swapped in. Real photos of your work beat stock almost every time.

You get: Designed key pages, phone and desktop
  4. 04

    Engineered for speed

Custom builds on Next.js, pages served as ready-made HTML, images sized for each screen. Google’s guidance is that the main content should appear within 2.5 seconds; that is the bar we build to.

You get: Core Web Vitals checked before launch
  5. 05

    Accessible by default

Semantic headings, labelled form fields, visible keyboard focus, readable contrast and respect for reduced-motion settings, checked with automated tests and by hand against WCAG 2.2 AA.

    You get: Accessibility report
  6. 06

    Enquiry paths that someone owns

Every form, phone link and booking button goes somewhere a person will see it. We send test enquiries, check the confirmation tells people what happens next, and ask only for what you need to quote.

You get: Tested forms and calls
  7. 07

    SEO foundations in the build

Unique titles and descriptions, one clear heading per page, structured data, a sitemap, Search Console set up, and redirects for every old URL that already earns visits.

    You get: Launch-ready technical SEO
  8. 08

    Measurement you can trust

Analytics events for enquiries, calls and key clicks, only on your live domain, so you can see which pages actually bring work in.

    You get: GA4 enquiry tracking
  9. 09

    Editing that suits you

Changing a photo, a price or your opening hours should take minutes. We set up editing around how you work; LC Events got a phone-first studio for swapping photos.

    You get: Handover and training

How a project runs

Six stages. No surprises.

You always know what stage you are in and what you will have at the end of it. Timing depends on page count, how ready your content is and any integrations, so we give you a timeline once we know those, rather than a number designed to win the quote.

  1. Discovery and scope

Your services, customers, service area, current site and competitors. Scope and price are agreed in writing before design starts.

You’ll have: A fixed scope and quote

  2. Page plan and content

Which pages exist, what each one must answer, and where content comes from. If an old site ranks for anything, we inventory it now.

You’ll have: Sitemap, page briefs, redirect map

  3. Design

Key pages designed for phone and desktop, using your photography and brand. You review real layouts, not mood boards.

    You’ll have: Approved designs

  4. Build

A fast, responsive build with forms, integrations and editing set up. Every page server-rendered so search engines can read it.

You’ll have: A working staging site

  5. Test

Phones, browsers, keyboard use, accessibility checks, page speed, and test enquiries through every form and call button.

You’ll have: A QA checklist, signed off

  6. Launch and review

Go live with redirects, sitemap, Search Console and analytics. Then a review once real visitors have used the site.

    You’ll have: A live site and a first-month review

What websites cost

Real numbers, in the open.

Most agencies make you call for a price. Here is what Australian websites typically cost, from a published cost guide. Everest quotes per project after a short scoping conversation, and the price is fixed before design starts.

Choosing the right build

Custom isn’t always the answer.

A website builder can be the right call for testing an idea. A custom build earns its cost when your business relies on people finding you, trusting you and getting in touch. We will tell you which one you need.

Redesigning?

Keep the rankings you already have.

Redesigns are where small businesses most often lose search visibility: URLs change without redirects, or useful pages quietly disappear. Before we rebuild anything, we find out which pages Google already sends you visitors to.

  1. Inventory every live URL and its search traffic from Search Console.
  2. Keep pages that earn visits, and improve them rather than replace them.
  3. Redirect every URL that changes with a permanent (301 or 308) redirect.
  4. Check the new site for broken links, missing titles and crawl errors.
  5. Watch Search Console for the weeks after launch and fix issues fast.

Questions

Website design questions, answered.

Straight answers, including the ones that don’t sell anything. Something else on your mind? Ask us or call 0414 313 425.

How much does a website cost in Sydney?

It depends on page count, how much copy and photography you need, design depth and integrations. One Australian cost guide puts a professionally built 5–10 page small business site at $2,000–$6,000 and custom designs at $6,000–$15,000, plus hosting and maintenance. Everest quotes per project after a scoping conversation, and the price is fixed before design starts. Our website cost guide explains how to compare quotes fairly.

How long does a website take?

It depends on the number of pages, how ready your content is and any integrations. We give you a timeline once we know those things, rather than a number designed to win the quote. Content (words and photos) is the most common cause of delay, so we plan it from the first week.

Will my new website rank on Google?

A well-built site gives Google clear, fast, readable pages, which is the foundation. Rankings also depend on competition, your content over time, reviews and links from other sites, so no honest designer can guarantee positions. We build the foundations properly and can help with SEO afterwards.

We already rank for some searches. Will a redesign lose that?

Redesigns are where small businesses most often lose search visibility, usually because URLs change without redirects or useful pages disappear. We inventory your existing pages and their search traffic first, keep what earns visits, map a permanent redirect for anything that moves, and check for crawl errors after launch.

What platform do you build on?

Custom sites on Next.js, a modern framework used by large and small sites (this website is one). If a hosted platform such as Shopify or Squarespace would suit how you want to run the site, we will say so during scoping.

Can I update the website myself?

Yes. We set up editing around the changes you actually make, such as photos, prices, services or opening hours, and show you how before handover.

Do you write the content?

We structure every page and write headings and calls to action. Full copywriting for every page is optional and quoted separately, because some owners prefer to write in their own voice.

Who owns the domain and website?

Your domain should always be registered in your business’s name, not a developer’s. Hosting, logins and ownership are set out in the project agreement before any work starts.

Do I have to sign up for advertising too?

No. Website design is a standalone service. Advertising, SEO and ongoing support are separate and optional.

Do you only work with Sydney businesses?

We are based in Sydney and most clients are Sydney small and service businesses, and we can work with businesses elsewhere over video calls.
